Arts Missoula Launches New Fall Social to Bring Missoula's Creative Community Together
This first-ever event celebrates connection, membership, and community creativity with a 500-art-kit making party!
MISSOULA, MT — This September, Arts Missoula is launching a new annual tradition designed around something at the heart of its work: bringing people together through the arts.
Arts Missoula's first Fall Social will take place Wednesday, September 9, from 6–8 p.m. at Free Cycles, bringing together artists, arts organizations, creative businesses, arts supporters, and community members for an evening of connection, conversation, food and drinks — and a community-wide art kit making party.
The event marks the culmination of Arts Missoula's first annual Membership Drive, August 31–September 11, and celebrates the growing network of people and organizations that make up Missoula's creative community. The Membership Drive seeks to reach artists and arts educators in our community who are interested in joining an ever-growing community of artists, arts organizations, venues, and businesses across Missoula County and beyond.
More than simply a membership event, the Fall Social is an opportunity for people across disciplines and organizations to meet one another, build relationships, share ideas, and learn more about ways to get involved in Missoula's arts and culture community.
And while they're connecting, attendees will also be creating something for Missoula.
Through a partnership with Thrivent and additional support from Giving Art to Missoula, Fall Social attendees can choose to work together to assemble 500 free art kits. Participants may also choose just to connect and enjoy the creative vibe. The kits that are created will be distributed throughout the year at First Fridays and Arts Missoula community events, including Germanfest and Missoula on Main.
The project reflects a simple idea: creativity should be accessible to everyone. Art supplies can be a barrier to participation, and putting materials directly into people's hands creates an invitation to make, experiment, play, and participate in Missoula's creative community.
The Fall Social also reflects the larger purpose behind Arts Missoula's growing membership program. Designed for artists, arts organizations, venues, businesses, and arts supporters, membership provides practical benefits such as promotion through Arts Missoula's newsletters, event calendar, directories, and community networks. Just as importantly, it creates opportunities for members to find one another.
Arts Missoula serves as Missoula's local arts agency, supporting and connecting the community through advocacy, education, cultural events, artist support, community engagement, and opportunities that strengthen Missoula's arts and culture ecosystem.
The Fall Social brings all of those pieces together in one room: connection, creativity, service, and celebration.
Artists, arts organizations, arts supporters, and anyone interested in becoming more connected to Missoula's creative community are invited to attend.
